MASOC Care is focused on developing young talents towards becoming change leaders in the Senior Care Industry.
If someone asks me, “What does MASOC CARE do?” I’d say, “We change lives together”.
Senior Care was such a foreign topic for me, and aging seems so far away. MASOC CARE made me realize that caring was never something far ahead.
Malaysia is an aging society, my parents are aging, and I will eventually grow old. What would have happened if Malaysia's senior care standards is still at its current state years later? All lives will be at risk - lives of the elderlies, my parents, and myself.
Something has to be done. Change has to take place now. MASOC CARE is a company that enables change to happen. Enabling lives to be changed - not only for the the elderlies, but for everyone who is part of this movement to ignite true quality care. Truly, with MASOC CARE, now everyone can be cared for and #noweveryonecancare.

I wasn’t interested in senior care earlier because I thought that being in senior care means being a caregiver who will have to take care of trivial things.
However, MASOC CARE has shown me that senior care is more than just that, as the entire topic spans across various aspects of seniors and caregivers, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually.
Therefore, I aim to educate that all lives, young or old, should be treated with respect and as something precious, until the very end.

I am fortunate to work with MASOC CARE as an organisation that is truly passionate to meet the needs of its clients and employees.
It has changed my perspective about senior care, as I started to notice the years that have caught up to the people around me: my friends, my family, and even myself.
I have come to find that it is more than providing their basic needs and treatment, but also helping them be as comfortable, independent, and vibrant as we can throughout their golden years.

After graduation, I was very much conflicted between wanting to further my studies or whether I should get a normal 9 to 5 job.
So, this scholarship really helps me in finding a path where I wanted to go to, as well as making it possible for me to actually walk down that path.
I’m really excited to learn more about the caregiving industry in Japan, as well as the different technologies being used over there to support the daily lives of the elderly.

In October 2022, I attended the Set Sail Camp organized by MASOC CARE and sponsored by PH-GEM.
My biggest takeaway was not only to learn of the elderly, but to adapt to different scenarios in work life. The program has also hit me emotionally. I would like to thank PH-GEM for sponsoring me, for me to have a chance to attend such youth programs by MASOC CARE that encourages the younger generation to thrive with the growing elderly population in Malaysia.
I am now a senior care advocate together with the team at MASOC CARE, running senior care awareness programs.

I was a committee for the Set Sail Program by Masoc Care. As a committee myself, I gained a lot of valuable lessons and unforgettable memories in this camp.
I got to learn and obtain caregiving skills for the first time in my life, and because of this camp, I got the chance to reflect on how I interacted with my family, understand what my parents are feeling and what I can change. However, I believe the biggest takeaway that I gained from this camp experience would definitely be the emotional connections I made with not just the committees but also the students, aka our deck mates.
This camp has opened my eyes to the senior care industry and made me realize how important it is. I hope this camp will continue to enlighten youths on the senior care industry as it did with me.

I would like to learn the best caregiving method from the Japanese so that one day I can contribute to the elderly in Malaysia!

Before I joined the senior care industry, I used to think that only the elderly and foreigners would like to be caregivers.
But now, I think that being a caregiver is an honorable job not just for the elderly or foreigners but also for the younger generation too.
I hope more people would be interested to be a part of the senior care industry today.

MASOC CARE has helped me learn about the senior care industry and the aging of population in Malaysia.
Through being a camp committee at MASOC CARE's Set Sail Program, I learned how to communicate effectively with my peers. This experience has also teaches me about how a camp works and how events are meant to run alongside its core values.
Besides, this experience working with the team at MASOC CARE has also taught me how to empathise with people and developed the required social skills for future social events.

I was only supposed to be a committee for one particular camp under Masoc Care’s Teenagers Caregiving Initiatives. But, I ended up joining the next one, the following one, and continued to serve in this elderly care sector up till this date!
The first camp I was involved in has truly sparked my interest towards the industry, as well as equipped me with the necessary skills I need for the working world.
Before coming across Masoc Care, I had an elderly at home that required care too. I wasn’t able to understand her needs back then. However, a trainer from Masoc Care has taught me to understand her better. I now am able to reflect on better ways to satisfy her needs, especially on the psychological aspect.

I was a Set Sail Camp Committee for Masoc Care in the month of April, 2023.
The Set Sail Camp series caters to participants of all races. Growing up in a Chinese community myself, this experience has burst my bubble, enabling me to establish friendship from a different race. Besides, I appreciate the friendship I have gained with my own committee members too - they are all very interesting and outstanding people.
Through going through the camp myself, I was amazed to learn that caregiving has so much depth in it - from things as simple as feeding and lifting, it has its specific and professional methods to it too. I’ve come to understand caregiving as a skill that is so practical and crucial in our daily lives.

Masoc Care has sparked a realization in me. I am now aware that the senior care industry is one that is fast growing.
I’ve joined the association as a committee under one of their Teenagers Caregiving Initiative Program. Through this program, our team has helped the youths to reflect on the elderly’s needs through communication tactics, as well as taught them practical caregiving skills.
In my opinion, this industry needs the involvement of the younger generation in order for it to bloom.

During my internship with Masoc Care, I had the chance to step out of my comfort zone.
I've gained leadership and coordination skills, and also picked up the ability to communicate in English & Bahasa Malaysia - the two languages that I was not confident with.
I find the methods used by Masoc Care to get young people to 'care' to also be very practical and interesting.
We are all getting old, our parents and the people around us are getting old. Senior care is not a knowledge that we catch up when we are old, but an insurance for our future life; one day, we will put all this knowledge to use.
I appreciate the opportunity to have met the Malaysian Association for Social Care Professionals and Homes (MASOC CARE) through "Set Sail: My Family, My Future, I Care" Camp.
The association have shattered my perception and made me reconsider how I should integrate my future with my family.
The aging population in Malaysia has promoted the trend of the elderly care industry, and I have also seen many employment opportunities in this growing industry.
PEE CHIN QIAN
Masoc Care has equipped me with caregiving knowledge and skills required to care for the elderly.
The elderly population in Malaysia is growing, and we need more elderly care services to cope with its demand. With that, I am fortunate to be part of the team at Masoc Care to inspire youths today to learn about the various opportunities in this sector through being a camp committee at Set Sail Camp. Indeed, senior care is an industry of the future that youths should look into.
BOO WEI QING
I was a committee for Masoc Care’s Set Sail Camp Program. I was there to help the youths unlock life skills and learn about senior care.
Little did I know, I had unlocked a lot of skills and gained many experiences myself - from time management, to agenda scheduling, to event coordination, and even caregiving skills.
Masoc Care has helped young people like me understand the severity of this aging crisis, and also equip them with the solution and skills to not only encounter it, but also to turn this crisis into their opportunity.
MAK KAI QUAN
MASOC CARE helped me realize the current situation and trend of Malaysian society, that is, the seriousness of the aging problem.
At the same time, the company has been executing corresponding plans to expand and improve the elderly care industry in Malaysia.
They helped me understand that caring for the elderly is not easy. Taking care of the elderly requires professional knowledge and ability. Besides physical care, psychological aspects must also be given enough attention.
Therefore, I hope that Malaysians can pay more attention to this issue and improve our elderly care industry so that the elderly in our country can receive the best quality of care.

As I grow, my family grows older too. When I am finally a grown-up, I'm going to leave my home and my family. I will not be able to take care of them. I believe this is a dilemma that many people cannot avoid.
Malaysian Association for Social Care Professional and Homes (MASOC CARE) made me realize that professional caring for the elderly is not an easy task. It requires professional knowledge and skills to achieve quality care.
I hope that Malaysians can pay more attention to the field of elderly care, so that the number of professional caregivers can expand. People can then enjoy their old age instead of living in grievances for the rest of their life.
